Last year, a friend of mine was diagnosed with breast cancer. She fought the good fight with the most grace and dignity I have ever seen, and now she is (happily) cancer-free.
This past weekend, on a unseasonably cold, damp—and emotional—Saturday morning, a bunch of us—Team Maria— ran and walked in a local Komen Race for the Cure. Lucky me, I was asked to design the team’s t-shirts:
Here we are, completely freezing—but there’s no place anyone in this photo would rather be.
We ran amongst other survivors, families, and a even a firefighter in full gear. It was, as I said, incredibly emotional, and I’m so glad we did it.
